Hunger in Kakuma-Help Vulnerable Refugees: Your Support Matters

Spread the love

Dear Partners, Friends, and Supporters of Development and Empowerment of Society,

We are writing to share an urgent update on the persisting hunger crisis in Kakuma Refugee Camp.

The categorization of refugees by the UNHCR and WFP, has not improved the living conditions of refugees. These remain extremely difficult. Hunger continues to worsen across the camp, leading to devastating consequences.

People are dying or being driven to desperate actions simply to survive. Children, women, the elderly, and persons with disabilities are the most affected.

The Impact On Our Work

Our volunteers have been working tirelessly to support vulnerable refugees despite prolonged hunger, economic hardship, and the absence of any financial motivation. Consequently, several DES volunteers have now had to resign. This has greatly affected our ability to continue delivering community support and protection services at the scale required.

Call to Action

We humbly call upon our friends, partners, donors, and well-wishers to stand with refugees during this critical time. Your support can help us to:

  • Provide emergency food assistance to the most vulnerable refugees.
  • Offer basic financial motivation and support to community volunteers, enabling them to continue their lifesaving work.
  • Strengthen community resilience and protect lives during this ongoing crisis.

For partnerships, donations, or support, please reach out to us.

Together, we can make a difference.

With gratitude and hope,

Kadjosi Matabishi Mzaliwa
